Chapter 7
HARD TOP
As an option the hard top is a fiberglass unit which pro-
vides a stable mounting platform for radar and various
aftermarket components. It provides shade and protec-
tion from the elements.
The hard top features lighting which is energized from
the cockpit aft panel or from the helm. There is an access
area integrated into the ceiling for routing wiring.
The canvas attaches to the forward and aft hard top. The
canvas is Sunbrella which is a 100% solution dyed fab-
ric.
Regal features a clear vinyl sheet called Strataglass as part
of the hard top canvas enclosure. Strataglass is a pre-
mium, flexible coated sheeting engineered to resist the
damaging effects from the sun’s rays, environmental fall-
out, and scratching from handling. It blocks out 100% of
the spectrum of UV light.
Several hints to extend the life of Strataglass:
1. Always roll the curtains for storage. Never fold them
as they will be damaged.
2. Do not use RAINEX on Strataglass as it will eventu-
ally dull the surface and presents a orange peel effect.
3. Do not use cleaners, polishes, scratch removers, or
any other product made for regular, uncoated vinyl.
4. Do not handle Strataglass with sunscreen on your
hands! This will permanently cloud the material where
handled.
5. Never use a wash & wax product on Strataglass.
6. Never use harsh cleaners like Simple Green or pine
based solutions as they will dull the curtains quickly.
7. Strataglass recommends IMAR which are specially
made products for Strataglass. IMAR Strataglass Protec-
tive Polish, IMAR Strataglass Protective Cleaner and mild
soap preferably IMAR Yacht Soap Concentrate.
8. Strataglass recommends using IMAR Strataglass Pro-
tective Polish every 2 to 3 months (every 4 to 6 weeks in
areas of high fallout). In the interim, use IMAR Strataglass
Protective Cleaner frequently.
9. All new vinyl can develop impressions in itself. If pos-
sible leave the enclosure canvas up. If completely re-
moved, enclosures must be interleaved with either acid-
free paper (available from framing shops) or old sheets
(the best choice) to prevent “pooling” in the clear glass,
vinyl seasons over time and becomes less impression-
able. Roll all curtains down and fasten in place nightly to
keep perfect appearance.

Cleaning Strataglass
Flush throughly to cool the surface and rinse away envi-
ronmental abrasives. Wash with IMAR Yacht Soap Con-
centrate, or other equally gentle and high quality soap.
Do not use Simple Green or pine based cleaners as they
will dull the surface. Apply soapy water to a clear vinyl
section of the curtain with a special surface washing mitt
or soft cotton cloths. Throughly rinse the soapy solution
with fresh water and completely dry the curtains with a
high quality chamois. (Swobbit.com makes several tools
to make these tasks easier). Your clear vinyl curtains
should be washed whenever your boat is washed.
