Volvo-Checking V-Drive Engine Serpentine Belt
Remove the keys from the ignition switches before
performing any maintenance procedure. All Volvo
engines use a serpentine belt which connects the
alternator, raw water pump, idler pulley, and power
steering pump.
The serpentine belt tension is adjusted automatically and
requires no tension adjustments. At least once per year
check the belt for wear, cracks, check marks, dry rot,
exposed cords, oil or grease.
When the marks C & D line-up it is time to replace the
serpentine belt.
