Engine/gearbox assembly: Removal - Refitting

a Remove the tool (Mot. 1390) from the "engine -
gearbox" assembly.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Remove the blanking plugs.
a Connect:
-the diesel return pipe union,
-the fuel supply pipe union,
-the coolant outlet unit hose.
a Fit the clip on the coolant outlet unit hose using the
tool (Mot. 1448).
a Connect the exhaust cooler hose.
a Fit the clip on the exhaust cooler hose using the tool
(Mot. 1448).
a Connect the expansion bottle hoses.
a Fit the clips on the expansion bottle hoses using the
tool (Mot. 1448).
a Remove the blanking plugs.
a Lubricate a new seal with the recommended air con-
ditioning oil to make fitting easier (see Air conditio-
ning: Parts and consumables for the repair
work) (62A, Air conditioning).
a Refit the new seal on the "intermediate pipe - com-
pressor" connecting pipe on the compressor side.
a Couple the "intermediate pipe - compressor" con-
necting pipe on the compressor.
a Torque tighten the bolt of the "intermediate pipe -
compressor" connecting pipe on the compres-
sor (8 N.m).
a Refit the retaining bolt of the "intermediate pipe -
compressor" connecting pipe.
a Clip the gear control cables:
-on their support,
-on the selector ball joints.
a Connect:
-the vacuum pipe union on the vacuum pump,
-the diesel fuel heater connector,
a Refit:
-the hydraulic clutch pipe (see Clutch circuit: Re-
moval - Refitting) ,
-the engine fuse box.
a Connect the Protection and Switching Unit connec-
tors.
a Refit:
- the Protection and Switching Unit cover,
- the earth cable nut on the body.
a Torque tighten the earth cable nut on the body (8
N.m).
a Connect the pre-postheating unit connector.
a Refit the air resonator (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air
resonator: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-1) .
a Clip the power wiring channel on the left-hand sus-
pended engine mounting.
a Refit the power cable nuts on the battery disconnec-
tion unit.
a Torque tighten the power cable nuts on the batte-
ry disconnection unit (8 N.m).
a Connect the connectors of the battery disconnection
unit.
a Refit:
- the radiator mounting cross member (see Radiator
support cross member: Removal - Refitting)
(31A, Front axle components),
- the front of the vehicle.
a Clip:
- the relay unit on the front end panel,
- the fan assembly wiring on the fan assembly.
a Connect:
- the fan unit resistor connector,
- the motor-driven fan assembly connector.
a Clip the engine wiring on the front end panel.
a Refit the bolts of the engine wiring channel on the
front end panel.
a Connect the radiator hoses.
a Fit the radiator hose clips using the tool (Mot. 1448).
a Push back the clip of the intercooler air inlet pipe.
a Clip the intercooler air inlet pipe on the intercooler.
a Push back the clip of the intercooler air outlet pipe.
a Clip the intercooler air outlet pipe onto the intercoo-
ler.
a Refit the bolt on the intercooler air outlet pipe.
a Remove the blanking plugs.
a Lubricate new seals with the recommended air con-
ditioning oil to make fitting easier (see Air conditio-
ning: Parts and consumables for the repair
work) (62A, Air conditioning).
