CHECKING
I - PREPARATION OPERATION FOR CHECK
a Remove:
-the engine cover,
-the ignition coils (see 17A, Ignition, Coils Remo-
val - Refitting, page 17A-1) ,
-the spark plugs (see 17A, Ignition, Spark plugs:
Removal - Refitting, page 17A-5) .
a Connect a petrol compression gauge (1) .
a Run commands using the diagnostic tool :
-RZ003 « ADAPTATIF MOTEUR » ,
-VP036 « INHIBITION ALIMENTATION
CARBURANT » .
a Put the vehicle under starting conditions:
-gear lever in neutral for manual gearbox or position
P (Park) for automatic gearbox,
-brake pedal depressed.
II - TEST OPERATION
a Press the vehicle start button to trigger the engine
starting phase.
a Measure the compression of cylinder n°1.
a Fully depress the accelerator pedal in order to open
the throttle valve during the compression measure-
ments.
a Measure the compression of the other cylinders.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Disconnect the petrol compression gauge.
a Refit:
-the spark plugs (see 17A, Ignition, Spark plugs:
Removal - Refitting, page 17A-5) ,
- the ignition coils (see 17A, Ignition, Coils Remo-
val - Refitting, page 17A-1) ,
- the engine cover.
a Remove the card from the reader to interrupt the +
after ignition feed and wait for the loss of communi-
cation message to appear on the diagnostic tool,
a When the loss of communication message appears
or after waiting 9 minutes, force the vehicle's + after
ignition feed.

Note:
the engine will be driven by the starter for 20
seconds, without being started.
Note:
Put the vehicle back in forced + after ignition feed
as soon as the starter has stopped (in order to
maintain the inhibition of the engine starting and
to be able to measure the compression of the
other cylinders).
Note:
It is necessary to wait for at least 10 seconds
before starting the engine each time (the starter
will not run due to its thermal protection).
Note:
If the message does not appear, wait 9 minutes.
