Rocker cover: Removal - Refitting

a
a Apply RESIN ADHESIVE (see Vehicle: Parts and
ingredients for the repairwork) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) using a stipple roller on the joint
face of the rocker cover until the joint face is comple-
tely coated.
a Use a cloth to remove any RESIN ADHESIVE on the
rocker cover bearings.
a Refit the centring devices of the rocker cover using a
roll pin punch and a hammer.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit the rocker cover.
a Fit without tightening the rocker cover bolts.
a Tighten to torque and in order:
- the rocker cover bolts (22), (23), (20), (13) (8
N.m),
- the rocker cover bolts (1) to (12), (14) to (19),
(21), (24) (12 N.m),
- the rocker cover bolts (22), (23), (20), (13) (12
N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- new camshaft timing end seals (see 11A, Top and
front of engine, Camshaft seal at timing end:
Removal - Refitting, page 11A-186) ,
- the oil separator (see 11A, Top and front of engi-
ne, Oil decanter: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-
205) ,
- the lifting eye on the timing end.
a Fit the tool (Mot. 1453) equipped with the tool (Mot.
1453-01) and the safety strap(s).
a Remove the (Mot. 1390).
a Refit:
- the timing belt (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-29) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-18) ,
- the accessories belt (see 11A, Top and front of
engine, Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting,
page 11A-7) ,
- the turbocharger (see 12B, Turbocharging, Tur-
bocharger: Removal - Refitting, page 12B-8) ,

WARNING
Applying excess sealant could cause it to be
squeezed out when parts are tightened. A mix-
ture of sealant and fluid could damage certain
components (engine, radiator, etc.).
