9 Maintenance 9180 Electrolyte Analyzer
Unscheduled maintenance
o Remove the new electrode from its protective box and check for the presence of
an o-ring in the left side of the electrode.
o Install the electrode in its labeled position in the measuring chamber. Note that
the electrode has a lip on the bottom that rests on the flat edge of the measuring
chamber to aid in proper positioning.
WARNING
Incorrect patient results due to bad electrode installation
Installing electrodes in incorrect measuring chamber positions may lead to incorrect
patient results, which may endanger patient lives.
r Confirm the electrode order with the sheet found on the inside of the analyzer
before closing the measuring chamber.
r Perform QC tests on 3 levels after replacing the electrodes.

o To close the clamp on the left electrode holder, lift the clamp until it locks into the
back position. Make sure that the electrodes are seated properly.
o Slide the measuring chamber back until it snaps into position.

After installing a new electrode, daily maintenance, calibration, and QC
measurements on 3 levels has to be performed to verify the performance of the
electrode.
