Do not top up engine oil

Engine oil level in normal range.

Engine oil level low, engine oil must be top-
ped up.

Engine oil level very low, engine oil needs to
be topped up.
To check the oil level on the information screen,
the following steps must be followed:
1.
Switch the ignition on.
2.
Select the menu: Vehicle > Status > Oil
level.
Possible actions after reading the oil level on
the information screen ›››Fig.233:
Do not top up engine oil, do not start the
engine and seek professional assistance.
Oil level correct.
Oil level low, engine oil must be topped up.
Oil level below minimum, engine oil must be
topped up.
If the oil level is in the lower area of

or in the
area
C
, it can be topped up to half of the area
B
(approx. 0.5l). Or follow the instructions on
the information screen.

Locate the engine oil filler cap. It can be
recognized by the symbol on the cover

Unscrew cap from the oil filler mouth

Carefully add oil in small quantities (no more
than 0.5 l).
To avoid adding too much oil, whenever you
add a certain amount, wait about 2 minutes
and recheck the oil level ›››page348.
If necessary, add some more oil.
When the oil level reaches at least zone

Any work carried out in the engine compart-
ment or on the engine must be carried out
cautiously.
When working in the engine compart-
ment, always observe the safety warnings

WARNING
Oil is highly inflammable! Ensure that no oil
comes into contact with hot engine compo-
nents when topping up.
NOTICE
If the oil level is above zone

, do not start
the engine. This could result in damage to
the engine and catalytic converter. Contact
a Technical Service.
