Configurable functions
4.6 Virtual photoelectric switch
You are not allowed to use the virtual photoelectic switches for safety-relevant
functions!
You are only allowed to use the virtual photoelectric switches for signaling. You must never
use the signals on the outputs for controlling the application or for safety-relevant func-
tions.
Two of the beams on the C4000 can be used as so-called virtual photoelectric switches.
With the aid of the two photoelectric switches, the safety light curtain can, e.g., signal the
positions of objects in the protective field.
You can configure which beams represent the virtual photoelectric switches and their lay-
out in the CDS on the C4000 (receiver).
The electrical connection of the photoelectric switches is described in chapter 7.8 “Out-
puts for the virtual photoelectric switches” on page 80.
If virtual photoelectric switches are configured, it is not possible to connect an emergency
stop, a Reset button, a key-operated pushbutton for bypass or for teach-in or a signal lamp
for “Reset required” to the extension plug.
The results from the photoelectric switches can also be output via EFI and forwarded via a
control device in the sens:Control family to an (F)PLC.
