9.2 Preparing the configuration

ow to prepare the configuration:
Ensure that the safety light curtain has been correctly mounted and that the electrical
connections are correct and in place.
Plan all the necessary adjustments (operating modes, beam coding, resolution, etc.).

o configure the safety light curtain, you need:
CDS (Configuration & Diagnostic Software) on CDE ROM
user manual for CDS on CDEROM
PC/Notebook with Windows 9x/NT 4/2000 Professional/XP/Vista and a serial interface
(RSE232). PC/Notebook not included
connecting cable between PC and C4000 (SICK part no. 6021195)
You may need a USB to RSE232 adapter for your notebook. This adapter is available as
an accessory from SICK: UCE232 A (SICK part no. 6035396).
To configure the device, please read the user manual for the CDS (Configuration &
Diagnostic Software) and use the online help function of the programme.
