3.3 Installation
3.3.1 General Instructions, Prerequisites
Before you start the installation work, you must have carried out the steps described in Sec-
tion 3.2.
Unless otherwise agreed with SICK MAIHAK or an authorized representative, all of the in-
stallation work must be carried out by the customer. This includes:
‡ Laying all the power supply and signal cables
‡ Connecting the power supply and signal cables to the system components
‡ Installing the switches and power fuses
If you are using a purge-air unit, the additional activities described in Section 3.3.2 must
also be carried out.
Notes: ‡ Plan adequate cable cross-sections (see Section 2.6 "Technical Data")
‡ The cable ends with connector for connecting the sender/receiver units must be long en-
ough.
‡ Cable connectors that are not connected must be protected from dirt and moisture (fit
cover).
Warning
• All installation work must be carried out in line with the relevant safety regulations and
instructions listed in Chapter 1.
• Suitable measures must be taken to protect against danger.
3.3.2 Installing the Purge-air Supply
The following steps are only necessary if you have to use purged sender/receiver units.
‡ Lay the purge-air hoses on short routes and without krinks, shorten if necessary.
‡ Leave sufficient distance to hot duct walls.
‡ When installing to insulated ducts, keep the cooling air outlet (see Fig. 2.11 to Fig. 2.13)
