Special versions In addition to the standard probes shown above, other versions made from special acid-
resistant materials are available (1.4539 and PVDF). In certain cases, special versions are
manufactured in accordance with customer specifications.
2.1.3 GM35 Options and accessories
â– Automatic Alignment Control
offers an accurate adjustment of the measuring beam to the probe (open and GPP ver-
sion) under difficult and changing measurement conditions e.g. large variations in tem-
perature.
â– PROFIBUS PA
This is used for connecting the device to a host computer (e.g. for outputting measured
values and status information). The evaluation unit can also be supplied with an optional,
built-in PROFIBUS interface.
â– CAN bus extension cables 5, 10, 12, 15 m (16.4, 32, 39.4, 49.2 ft)
If the evaluation unit is to be installed more than 4 m away from the SR unit, extension
cables (with plugs) are available (5, 10, 12, or 15 m/16.4, 32, 39.4, 49.2 ft).
â– Terminal box for CAN bus
If the SR unit is more than 19 m away from the evaluation unit, the two devices can be
connected by means of the optional terminal box with a CAN bus cable provided by the
customer. The total length of all the CAN bus connections in the GM35 measuring system
can reach 1000 m (3,280 ft). Chapter 3.4 „Preparations for electrical installation“ ex-
plains how the terminal box is used.
â– Probe bracket for zero-point test
Some adjustments must be made outside the duct, in an atmosphere that is free of the
measurement gas. To enable these adjustments to be carried out easily, an angular
bracket that can be connected to the mounting flange is available. The duct is sealed as
a result, and the SR unit with measuring probe is mounted at a right angle to the duct in
front of the duct opening using this bracket.
â– Weatherproof covers for the SR unit and purge air unit
This is required for outdoor installation (for dimension drawings, seeChapter 10.2.7
"Weatherproof covers").
â– Strip-chart recorder, single or multi-channel
This is used for recording the measured values. Of course the measured values can also
be logged using systems provided by the customer.
â– Fan heater for purge air supply
This is used in special operating conditions to prevent condensation from forming. A fan
heater is required if the difference between the gas temperature and the dew point
temperature is too small. The following rule of thumb can be used here:
A fan heater is recommended if:
Gas temperature [°C] – dew point temperature [°C] < abs. humidity [%]
Only the numeric values, and not the units of measure, are relevant here.
A data sheet for the fan heater is also available (order no. 8 008 330).
