3.3.4 Mounting preparations for the purge-air unit
Is a purge-air unit
to be used?
This step is only relevant for device configurations containing a purge-air unit. GM35
configurations with GPP measuring probes do not require a purge-air supply.
‡ Prepare brackets comprising steel tubes (e.g. 50 x 5) with flanges as shown in Fig. 7;
provide fixing holes with M10 threads.
‡ In steel ducts, weld on the brackets as shown.
‡ In brick ducts, fit the steel tubes with holding plates, or provide other suitable means of
securing the purge-air unit.
3.3.5 Insulating the duct
‡ Replace the thermal insulation on the duct, providing additional insulation if necessary.
ATTENTION
The SR unit of the GM35 is designed for an ambient temperature of max. +55 °C. Radiant
heat on the surface of the housing can result in temperatures that are higher than the mea-
sured air temperature. As a result, thermal insulation measures must be implemented to en-
sure that the temperature always remains within the permitted limits.
3.3.6 Preparations for installing the evaluation unit
Prerequisites The mounting location for the evaluation unit has been established as part of the Project
Planning measures (Chapter 4). The total cable length of all the CAN bus connections in the
GM35 measuring system must not exceed 1000 m. To facilitate operation, however, we
recommend that you install the unit in the vicinity of the measuring point.
Preparations at the mounting location
The evaluation unit is fitted with clips. which enable it to be mounted easily using 4 screws,
even on an uneven surface.
‡ Use the dimensioned drawing of the Evaluation Unit to ensure that sufficient space is pro-
vided for mounting and connecting the unit, as well as opening the housing door.
‡ If necessary, provide the appropriate holes at the mounting points.
3.4 Preparations for electrical installation
To enable the GM35 system components to be installed and started quickly, the power
supply and signal cabling provided by the customer is laid in advance. Suitable cable ducts
or conduits (marked * in Fig. 10) are installed for the preassembled cables supplied with the
GM35 system.
The prepared cables will be connected to the devices during device installation/startup by
qualified personnel or by the SICK MAIHAK Customer Service department.
Completed? If you have already completed the activities described here prior to delivery of the device
using the "Product Information and Planning Guide", please check that you have done so
correctly in accordance with the information provided in this chapter.
