Purge-air unit
• only relevant in conjunction
with a purge-air unit, i.e. not
with systems using a GPP

■ Select the
mounting location
✓ Mounting location must be in direct vicinity (5 m) of
the GM35 SR unit
✓ The purge-air hose from the purge-air unit to the measuring
probe should be as long as necessary. The probe must be able
to be pulled out/inserted with the hose connected.
✓ Ensure that the cables can be routed correctly
✓ Ensure that the intake air at the purge-air unit is dry and free of
dust; use a prefilter if necessary
✓ The temperature of the intake air should be between
0 – 55 °C; if T < 0 °C, heat the purge air
✓ Provide sufficient clearance for replacing the filter inset
✓ If the unit is to be mounted outdoors, provide a weatherproof
cover and sufficient clearance for mounting (and removing) the
cover
Evaluation Unit

Unit
■ Determine the
mounting location
✓ Mount the Evaluation unit at a location that is easily accessible,
if possible at the measuring point. The unit can also be installed
at a remote location, if necessary. In this case, however, the to-
tal length of all the CAN bus connections in the GM35 measur-
ing system must not exceed 1000 m.
✓ Ambient temperature between –20 °C and +55 °C
■ Options for CAN
bus connection
✓ If the 2 m CAN bus cable is not adequate for connecting the
Evaluation unit and SR unit, please choose an accessory:
– Distance less than 17 m: a 15 m preassembled CAN bus ex-
tension cable with connectors.
– Distance > 17 m: provide a CAN bus terminal box (see
Page page 31) and cable (to be provided by customer).
Mounting platform
■ Determine the
mounting platform
✓ A suitable platform must be provided if the unit is to be mounted
outside on a duct/stack
✓ The mounting location of the GM35 SR unit should be approx.
1.3 to 1.5 m above the platform
✓ The platform must be sufficiently large, secured, and arranged
in such a way that all of the components are safely accessible.
This applies in particular to installing and removing the SR unit
with measuring probe.
Accident prevention
■ The applicable (country-specific) accident prevention regulations must be observed at
all times
■ Please refer to Chapter 1 "Safety instructions", page 7 in particular.
