Sender/receiver unit and
measuring probe
Refer to 3.3.1 "Preparations
for installation at the measu-
ring point", page 23
■ Choose a suitable
flange with tube
✓ The flange is intended for installation in steel ducts; a suitable
flange with tube is normally supplied with the GM35
✓ Brick ducts or thick-walled ducts require a holding plate (to be
provided by the customer), and possibly a longer version of the
flange with tube; see chapter 3.3.3, page 24
✓ If some of the components have not been delivered, you may
need to arrange an advance delivery of the flange with pipe so
that you can mount it as part of the preparations for installation
on site. Alternatively, you can use a suitable flange prepared on
site
■ Select the duct
apertures
✓ Ensure that the aperture of the GM35 measuring probe will be
aligned in the direction of the gas flow
✓ Provide a suitably sized opening for the tube of the mounting
flange
✓ Install the flange with the tube tilted slightly downwards (approx.
1°) to prevent condensate buildup and corrosion
✓ When cutting out the duct insulation, ensure to leave sufficient
space for installation and maintenance activities
✓ Plan sufficient clearance for pivoting the GM35 SR unit,
removing the cable connector from the device, and disconnect-
ing the measuring probe from the duct aperture
✓ Ensure that the ambient temperature for the GM35
SR unit is between –20 and +55 °C
■ Tools for startup
and maintenance
✓ If adjustments are to be made at the measuring point
(prerequisites: clean, measurement gas-free atmosphere; pro-
tected from weather): order angle flange for zero-point mea-
surement (order no. 2 017 833).
Please refer to the Chapter on “Using the angle flange for the
zero-point measurement”; a longer version of the flange with
tube may be necessary to ensure that the distance from the
duct is sufficient.
If adjustments are to be carried out elsewhere, order an
additional power supply cable with connector for the SR unit (or-
der no. 2 017 519), or two cables of this type if a GPP probe is
being used, since GPP probes require a separate power supply.
