5.4.3 HMI devices
HMI devices are used for machine-level process visualization and control. You use the same
HMI devices for the S7-1500R/H redundant system as for the standard S7-1500 system.
Using HMI communication, one or more HMI devices exchange data with the CPUs . Examples
of HMI devices are HMI Basic/Comfort/Mobile Panel.
The connection of the HMI device to the redundant system depends on the specific
application. In STEP 7, you can configure the following communication options:
• The HMI device communicates with the redundant system via a system IP address.
• The HMI device communicates with the respective R/H-CPUs (for example for diagnostic
purposes) via device IP addresses.

5.4.4 Communications processor CP1543-1
The communications processor CP 1543-1 provides a redundant connection of the
S7-1500 R/H CPUs to Industrial Ethernet.
You can use up to 2 (R-System)/6 (H-System) CP 1543-1 communications processors per
R/H-CPU.
