Note that a device of Protection Class III may only be supplied with a protective
low voltage according to the standard SELV/PELV.

Be aware that the device is only approved for the industrial field and only for in-
door use.
For Zone 2 potentially explosive atmospheres, be aware that the device may only
be used when it is installed in an enclosure with a degree of protection ≥ IP54.
For Zone 22 potentially explosive atmospheres, be aware that the device may only
be used when it is installed in an enclosure with a degree of protection ≥ IP6x.
2.3 Intended use
The system is used to control machines and plants.
Intended use also includes observance of this documentation, in particular the safety
instructions and conditions of use. See Technical specifications (Page 479) section.
2.4 Changes to the device and spare parts
Modifications to the device can impair the safety and function of the device:
• Do not make any changes or modifications to the device.
• Do not remove or paste over safety instructions on the device.
• Do not tape over, cover or install ventilation slots.
• Only use original spare parts and accessories.
• Only use the software provided by Siemens.
