6.5 Failure scenarios
S7-1500R/H redundant system
220 System Manual, 01/2024, A5E41814787-AF
5. In addition, the second PROFINET line to the backup CPU fails.
6. The redundant system will remain in the RUN-Redundant system state: The primary and
backup CPUs remain in the RUN-Redundant operating state.
7. The failure of the second PROFINET line to the backup CPU has an impact on the process,
since the redundant system no longer reaches the upper R device. The IO device falls back to
the substitute values.
Diagnostics
System state, operating states and fault indications after the failure of the interface module
and the two PROFINET lines:
Redundant system → RUN-Redundant system state
Primary CPU/Backup CPU → RUN-Redundant operating state
MAINT LED → yellow light: The PROFINET ring 1 is open. The PROFINET ring 2 is open.
No backup AR.
ERROR LED → flashes red: One or more IO devices have failed.
Note
To get detailed diagnostics information, evaluate the diagnostics buffer.
Solution
Replace the defective interface module of the R1 device and the defective PROFINET lines.
You can find additional information on the procedure in the section Replacing defective IO
devices/switches and in the section Replacing defective PROFINET cable.
6.5.4.6 Failure of the primary CPU in PROFINET rings with R1, S2 and S1 devices
Introduction
The following failure scenario describes the effects of a primary CPU failure in PROFINET rings
with R1, S2 and S1 devices.
Note
If S2 devices are only accessible by one CPU, then the default operating mode IO
-Device (S2)
at the H
-CPUs triggers the MAINT diagnostics. The MAINT LEDs on the H-CPUs light up. To
prevent MAINT
diagnostics, you must change the operating mode from "IO device(S2)" to "IO
device(S1)". The parameter operating mode can be set in STEP 7 in the "I/O communication"
view for each S2 device.
