6.8 System power supply
6.8.1 Use of system power supplies
Introduction
If the power fed from the CPU into the backplane bus is not sufficient to supply all connected
modules with power, then you need a system power supply (PS).
Through the redundant design of system power supply modules in the H-CPUs, it is possible
to increase the availability of the supply voltage. With sufficient dimensioning of the power
balance, the H-CPU (with the central CPs) remains in the RUN-Redundant operating state if a
power supply (or supply voltage) fails.
Slot for the system power supply
With the redundant system S7-1500R/H you may insert a maximum of 2 system power
supplies (PS) per CPU. The following rules apply:
• S7-1500R: on slot 0 and/or from slot 2
• S7-1500H: from slot 2 (only via active backplane bus)
