Maximum speed n
max
The maximum permissible speed n
max
is determined by mechanical factors. The maximum speed
n
max
must not be exceeded.
NOTICE
Motor damage when the maximum speed is exceeded
The maximum speed n
max
is the highest permissible operating speed. The maximum speed n
max
is stamped on the rating plate (nameplate).
The motor can be damaged if operated at inadmissible speeds.
• Ensure that the maximum permissible speed is not exceeded. Realize this using a suitable
control system or activate the speed monitoring function in the drive.
If n
S1
< n
max
, the motor must not be operated at n
max
continuously. Unless a dierent duty
cycle (duty cycle duration 10 minutes) is specied, the speed must be reduced as stated
below:
t
1
: 1 min---n
1
= 0 r/min
;
t
2
:
6 min---n
2
= 2/3 n

; t
3
: 3 min---n

Maximum torque M
max
Torque which is briey available for dynamic operations (e.g. when accelerating).
Max. current I
max
This is the current (rms phase value) produced at rated speed (n
rated
) and maximum torque
(M
max
).
S1 duty (continuous operation)
Operation with a constant load, the duration of which is sucient that the motor goes into a
thermal steady-state condition.
S6 duty (intermittent operation)
Operation which comprises a sequence of identical duty cycles; each of these duty cycles
comprises a time with constant motor load and a no-load time. Unless otherwise specied, the
load period refers to a duty cycle of 10 min.
for example,
S6-40 % = 4 min load operation, 6 min no-load operation
S6-60 % = 6 min load operation, 4 min no-load operation
