SOS (extended functions)
The "Safe Operating Stop" (SOS) function is used for fail-safe monitoring of the standstill
position of a drive. Positions of a user-defined standstill tolerance are interpreted by the drive
as "standstill".

WARNING
Unplanned movement of the drive through mechanical forces
A drive in position control can be forced out of the "Safe Operating Stop" (SOS) position by
mechanical forces that are greater than the maximum torque of the drive. This unwanted
drive movement then triggers a Stop function category 1 according to EN 60204-1 (fault
response function STOP B) which can result in severe injuries or death in an extreme
situation.
• Note the alarms for SS1 and STO.
Take suitable measures to prevent unwanted axis movements and use, e.g. a brake
with safety-relevant monitoring.
