5.Cleantherollershaftandallsurfacesontheinsideoftherollertube.Inspect
componentsforwearordamage.Also,carefullyinspecttheseatingsurface
andthreadsofthebearinglocknuts.Replaceallthecomponentsthatwere
damaged.
AssemblingtheRearRoller
1.Installtheinnersealsintotherollertubeandensurethattheseallip(and
garterspring)facesendofthetube.Usetheinnersealtool(refertoSpecial
Tools(page7–5))andsoft-facedhammertofullyseatsealsagainsttheroller
shoulder(Figure237).Applyasmallquantityofgreasearoundthelipofboth
innersealsafterinstallation.
IMPORTANT
Duringassemblyprocess,frequentlycheckthatthebearings
rotatefreelyanddonotbind.Ifthereisanybinding,removethe
componentsandinstallitagaincorrectly.
2.Installanewbearingandtheoutersealsintooneendoftherollertubeas
follows:
A.Positionanewbearingintooneendoftherollertube.Usethe
bearing/outersealtool(refertoSpecialTools(page7–5))witha
soft-facedhammertofullyseatbearingagainsttherollershoulder(Figure
238).Afterthebearinginstallation,ensurethatthebearingrotatesfreely
withoutbinding.
B.Applyasmallquantityofgreasearoundthelipofbothouterseals.
