PerformthePTOpressurevalvetestifyouidentifyaPTOengagementproblem.
ThistestdeterminesifthePTOpressurevalveinthetransmissionisoperating
correctly.
TestProcedure
1.Ensurethatthehydraulicuidisatnormaloperatingtemperature.
WARNING
Beforedisconnectingordoinganyworkonthehydraulicsystem,
releaseallthepressureinthesystem;refertoReleasingPressure
fromtheHydraulicSystem(page4–11).
2.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck(orimplement),
shutofftheengine,andsettheparkingbrake.
3.ReadallWarning,Cautions,andprecautionslistedatthebeginningofthis
section.
4.Cleanthetransmissionareaaroundthepressurevalvetestport.
5.Removetheplugfromthepressurevalvetestport.Connecta6,900kPa
(1,000psi)hydraulicpressuregaugewithahydraulichosethatisattached
tothetestport.
6.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed(1,400rpm).Checkfor
hydraulic-uidleaksfromthetestconnectionsandcorrectbeforecontinuing
thetest.
7.Withtheenginerunning,movethethrottletofullspeed(3,000rpm).
WARNING
Keepawayfromthedeck(orimplement)duringthetesttoprevent
personalinjury.
8.HaveanoperatorengagethePTOandmonitorthepressuregauge.
9.WiththeenginerunningatfullspeedandPTOengaged,thepressureshould
be1,930to2,340kPa(280to340psi).
10.DisengagethePTOandthenshutofftheengine.Recordthetestresults.
11.Ifspecicationisnotmet,repairorreplacethepressurevalveinthe
transmission;refertoServicingtheTransmission(page4–75).Alsoconsider
awornordamagedchargepumpinthetransmission(thetractioncharge
circuitwillbeaffectedaswell).
12.Releasepressurefromthehydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressure
fromtheHydraulicSystem(page4–11).
13.Disconnectthetestgaugefromthepressurevalvetestport.Installtheplug
intotheportandtorquetheplugto19to20N∙m(14to15ft-lb).
