someofwhichmaybeturfconditions.Theturfconditionssuchastheexcessive
thatch,sponginess,orattemptingtocutofftoomuchgrassheightmaynot
alwaysbeovercomebyadjustingthemachine.Itisimportanttorememberthat
thelowertheheight-of-cut,themorecriticalthesefactorsare.
Rememberthattheeffectiveoractualheight-of-cutdependsonthecuttingdeck
weightandturfconditions.

1.Maximumgovernedenginespeed
Checkthattheengineisrunningatthecorrecthigh-idle
speed;refertoChapter3:DieselEngine(page3–1).
Alwaysmowathighenginespeed.
2.BladespeedAllthecuttingdeckbladesshouldrotateatthesamespeed.
3.Tirepressure
Checktheairpressureofallthetiresincludingthe
castortires.Adjusttothepressuresspeciedinthe
TractionUnitOperator’sManual.
4.Bladecondition
Sharpenthebladesiftheircuttingedgesaredullornicked.
Inspectthebladesailforwearordamage.Replace
thebladeifnecessary.
5.MowerhousingconditionEnsurethatthecuttingchamberisingoodcondition.
Keeptheundersideofthedeckclean.Theunwanted
materialbuildupcanreducethecuttingperformance.
6.Height-of-cutAdjustthedeckasspeciedintheCuttingDeck
Operator’sManual.Theeffective(actual)height-of-cut
maybedifferentthanthebenchsetheight-of-cut.
7.CuttingdeckalignmentandgroundfollowingChecktheliftarmsforwear,damage,orbinding.
Also,inspectforbentordamagedpivotshafts.
8.Anti-scalprollercondition
Allanti-scalprollersshouldrotatefreely.Replacethe
rollersorrollershaftsiftheyarewornordamaged.
9.GrassconditionsMowwhenthegrassisdryforbestcuttingresults.
Also,removeonly2.5cm(1inch)or1/3ofthe
grassbladewhencutting.
10.Machinetractionspeed
Mowingattoofastofatractionspeedwillresultinpoor
aftercutappearanceandmissedpatchesofgrass.
