ThehydraulicsystemoftheGroundsmaster7210machineusesasolenoidvalve
coilonthefrontofthetransmission(Figure158).Whenthesolenoidvalvecoilis
energized,hydraulicowisdirectedtooperatethePTOsystem.
TheStandardControlModule(SCM)providescurrenttothesolenoidvalvecoil
basedonthepositionofseveralinputs.ThePTOLEDontheSCMisilluminated
whenthesolenoidvalvecoilisenergized.
TestingthePTOSolenoidValveCoil
Note:Donotremovethesolenoidfromthecartridgevalvefortesting.
1.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.Unplugthewireharness
electricalconnectorfromthesolenoidvalvecoil.
Note:Beforetakingthesmallresistancereadingswithadigitalmultimeter,
shortthemultimetertestleadstogether.Themultimeterdisplaysasmall
resistancevalue(usually0.5ohmsorless).Thisresistanceisbecauseofthe
internalresistanceofthemultimeterandtestleads.Subtractthisvaluefrom
themeasuredvalueofthecomponentthatyouaretesting.
2.Measuretheresistancebetweenthe2connectorterminalsofthesolenoid
coil.
Note:Theresistanceofthesolenoidcoilmustbeapproximately7.5ohms.
3.Connectthewireharnessconnectortothesolenoidcoil.
4.Ifthesolenoidcoilrequiresreplacement;refertoPTOSolenoidValveCoil
(page5–35).
