TheGroundsmaster7210machineuses2identicalrelaysthathave5terminals
tocontrolpowertothestartermotorsolenoidandEGRvalveoftheengine.The
relaysareattachedtotheECUbracketabovethebattery(Figure165).
Thestartrelaysuppliespowertotheenginestartermotorsolenoidwhen
energizedbytheengineECU.
TheEGRrelaysuppliespowertotheengineEGRvalvewhenenergizedby
theengineECU.
TestingtheStartorEGRRelays
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
3.Ensurethatthemachineoperationdoesnotoccurunexpectedly,disconnect
thenegative(-)cablefromthebatteryandthendisconnectthepositive(+)
cablefromthebattery;refertoServicingtheBattery(page5–61).
4.Locatetherelaythatyouaretesting.
5.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtherelay,andremovetherelay
fromthemountingbracketfortesting.
