1.Thebattery-electrolytelevelmustbeproperlymaintained.Thetopofthe
batterymustbekeptclean.Ifthemachineisstoredinalocationwherethe
temperaturesareextremelyhigh,thebatterywilldischargemorerapidlythan
ifthemachineisstoredinalocationwherethetemperaturesarecool.
WARNING
Thegasesareexplosive;also,theycancausenausea.
•Wearsafetygogglesandrubbergloveswhenworkingwith
electrolyte.Chargethebatteryinawellventilatedplacesothat
thegassesproducedwhilechargingcandissipate.
•Keepopenamesandelectricalsparksawayfromthebattery;
donotsmoke.
•Disconnectthechargerfromtheelectricaloutletbefore
connectingordisconnectingchargerleadstoorfromthe
batteryposts.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatterybywashingattheintervalswithabrushdipped
inammoniaorbicarbonateofsodasolution.Flushthetopsurfacewith
wateraftercleaning.
IMPORTANT
Donotremovellcapswhilecleaning.
3.Tightenthebatterycablesonthebatteryterminalstoprovideagood
electricalcontact.
WARNING
Connectingthecablestothewrongbatterypostcouldresultin
personalinjuryand/ordamagetotheelectricalsystem.
Ensurethatthecablesareproperlyconnectedtothecorrectbattery
postsbeforeoperatingthemachine.
4.Ifcorrosionoccursatthebatteryterminals,disconnectthecables.Always
disconnectthenegative(-)cablerst.Cleanthecableclampsandterminals
separately.Connectthecableswiththepositive(+)cablerst.Applyalayer
ofbatteryterminalprotector(T oroPartNo.107-0392)oralightcoatof
greasetotheterminalstoreducecorrosionafteryoumaketheconnections.
5.Checkthebattery-electrolytelevelevery25operatinghoursandevery30
daysifmachineisinstorage.
6.Maintainthecelllevelwiththedistilledordemineralizedwater.
