Before starting off, check:
z Tyre pressure and tyre condition – see
pages 162, 249.
z Engine oil level and fluid levels in engine
com partment – see pages 217 to 224.
z All windows, mirrors, exterior lighting
and n um ber p la tes are fre e from dirt,
snow and ice and op erational.
z Do not place any objects in front of the
rear window, on the instrument panel or
in the area in which the airbag s inflate.
z Seats, seat belts and mirrors are
correctly adjusted.
z Check brakes.
Starting, petrol engine:
Manual transmission in neutral
with clutch depressed,

turn key to III
The initially increased engine speed
autom atic ally falls as the engine
temperature rises.
Before repeating the starting proc edure,
turn the key back to o in the starter switch,
remove it and then reinsert it. Then repeat
the starting procedure.
