Vauxhall Full Size airbag system
Front airbag
The front airbag s ys tem is identified by the
word AIRBAG on the s teering whee l and
above the glove c om partment 3.
The front airbag system comprises:
z an airbag with inflator in the steering
wheel and a second one in the
instrument panel 3,
z the control electronics with impact
se ns or,
z the airbag systems control indicator v in
the instrument panel.
z seat occ upa ncy recog nition 3,
z the control indicator for Va uxhall child
restraint systems y with transponders 3
in the courtesy light.
The front airb ag system will be trigg ered :
z depending on the severity of the
accident,
z depending on the type of impact,
z within the range shown in the illustration,
z independently of the side airb ag
system 3 and curtain airbag system 3.
Exception:
Passenger sea t with seat occupancy
recognition system 3 . The seat occupancy
recognition system deactivates the front
and side airbags on the p assenger sid e if
the front passenger seat is unoccupied or a
Vauxhall child restraint system with
transponders 3 has b een fitted to the front
passenger seat. Seat occupa ncy

Examples of events triggering the front
airbag system:
z Impact against a non-yielding obstacle:
The front airbags are trigg ered at low
vehicle spee d.
z Impact against a yield ing obstacle
(such as another vehicle): The front
airbags are only triggered at a hig her
vehicle spee d.
