Chapter 10: Installing the Wave Recording Archive Service
Wave Server Installation Guide
Important: If your archive server PC currently uses or will use the Windows Firewall,
review the important information in Appendix E, “Configuring Wave ISM for the
Windows Firewall.”
Database server: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2. (See page 10-7 for
download and installation instructions.)
Memory: Enough memory to run Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition effectively
(at least 512 MB.)
Disk space: See below for more about the requirements for storing your archived
recordings in the archive folder. The archive folder can be located on the archive server
PC or on another PC in your network.
While not required, the following are recommended:
Backup: A tape backup unit or a DVD burner is recommended to save old recordings
RAID: Configure your archive server PC with RAID so that if a hard drive fails, you do
not lose your valuable recordings.
Network requirements
Host name resolution. Verify that you have Host Name Resolution working from the
Archive Server PC to the Wave Server. The Archive Server PC must be able to resolve
the Host Name of the Wave Server or archiving will fail (for example when you press
Archive Now to manually archive call recordings as described in Chapter 22 in the Wave
Global Administrator Guide).
To verify this, open a Command prompt on the Archive Server PC and type:
Ping <WAVE NAME>
where <WAVE NAME> is the Host Name found in the IP Network settings of your Wave
Server. If host name resolution is set up correctly, the ping will be successful. If the Ping
attempt times out or the Host Name cannot resolve to an IP address, you need to work
with your network administrator to resolve the networking issue. This usually involves a
DNS, WINS, or Host File issue.
