9.2.9 UF-RS485 Card
The UF-RS485 card converts RS232 signal to RS485 signal to realize UPS networking and communication. It should be
installed in an Intellislot port (see Figure 4.4 on page46) of UPS. It is hot pluggable for easy installation.
The appearance of the UF-RS485 card is shown in Figure 9.9 below below.

N O T E: T here is no need to shut dow n the U PS during UF-RS4 85 card installation, because the UF-
RS485 card is hot pluggable.
N O T E: S om e electronic com p onents in U F-RS4 8 5 card are sensitive to static electricity, therefore, do
not touch the electronic com ponents or circuit in UF-RS 4 8 5 card b y hand or other conductive
m aterials, so as to protect the U F-R S 485 card again static electricity. W hen rem oving or installing
the UF-R S 4 85 card, hold the card side edge to op erate it.

1. The R J 4 5 ports of the U F-R S 485 card m ust co nnect to SELV circuit. Failure to observe this
could cause dam age to the card and even result in safety accidents.
2. T h e con nection cable of the U F -RS485 card and the external m ust be a doubled-end
shielded cable.
The installation method of the UF-RS485 card is the same as that of the SIC card described in SIC Card Refer to Signal Cable
Connection Steps s for the cabling and routing of the signal cables.
