11 Service and Maintenance
The UPS system (including battery) needs regular service and maintenance. This chapter elaborates on the advice on the
service life, regular inspection, maintenance and replacement of the UPS key components. Effective maintenance of the UPS
system can reduce the risk in UPS failure and prolong the UPS service life.
11.1 Safety
W A RN IN G!
1. Inspection of U PS system s can only be executed by p eople who have received relevant
training, and the insp ection and replacem ent of d evices should only be undertaken by
authorized professionals.
2. T h e com ponents that can on ly be accessed by open ing the protective cover with tools
cannot b e operated b y the user. O nly qualified service personnel are auth orized to rem ove
such covers.
3. N ote that the neutral line has hazardous voltag e when servicing the U PS.
4. T he input\ output\ bypass switch are optional. If the user does not require them , please set
the external breaking device. S w itch off the external breaking device b efore service, and
ensu re the UP S is de-energ ized.
11.2 Service Procedures of Power Module and Bypass Module
N O T E: 1. O nly custom er service engineers shall service the power m odules and b ypass m odule.
N O T E: 2. Rem ove the pow er m odules and bypass m odule from top to bottom , so as to prevent
cabin et top pling d ue to h ig h gravity center.
N O T E: 3. The bypass m odule is not hot-pluggable. O nly w hen the U PS is transferred to intern al or
external maintenance bypass or com pletely pow ered off can the by p ass m o d u le be rem oved.
N O T E: 4 . The p ow er m odule and bypass module can be splugged into the cabinet w hen they de-
energized.
11.2.1 Service Procedures of Power Module
Provided that the UPS is in normal mode, and that the bypass is normal:
1. Manually turn off the inverters, and the UPS transfers to bypass mode.
2. Close the maintenance bypass switch, and the UPS transfers to maintenance mode.
3. Place the ready switch on the front panel of the power module to the up position (that is, in unready state).
4. Open the BCB or disconnect the batteries.
5. Remove the fixing screws on both sides of the front panel of the module, and pull the module out of the cabinet.
