CHECKING THE ROCKER ARMS AND ROCKER
ARM SHAFTS
The following procedure applies to all of the rocker arms
and rocker arm shafts.
1. Check:
• Rocker arm “1”
• Rocker arm shaft “2”
Wear/damage/cracks  Replace.
CHECKING THE PUSH RODS
The following procedure applies to all of the push rods.
1. Check:
• Push rod runout
Out of specifications  Replace.
REMOVING THE CYLINDER HEADS
The following procedure applies to all of the cylinder
heads.
1. Remove:
• Cylinder head
TIP
Set the piston at TDC (top-dead-center) on the compres-
sion stroke.
(Refer to “ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE” on
page 2-9.)
CHECKING THE CYLINDER HEADS
The following procedure applies to all of the cylinder
heads.
