6.4.4. Switching on the gun
If the gun is switched on, go to section 6.4.5.
1In the Vacuum tab, check that
EHT Vac ready=Yes is indicated.
2 To open the pop-up menu, in the status bar,
click Gun.
3 In the pop-up menu, select Gun On.
The gun runs up.
This may take up to 5 minutes.
CAUTION
Risk of damaging the Schottky field emitter.
Avoid switching off the gun during the working week to optimise the life time of the Schott-
ky field emitter.
Switching off the gun is only recommended at longer breaks of two days or more, such as
weekends.
