Chapter 6 Broadband
SBG3500-N Series User’s Guide

Dual Stack Lite
Use Dual Stack Lite when local network computers use IPv4 and the ISP has an IPv6 network.
When the SBG3500-N Series has an IPv6 WAN address and you set IPv6/IPv4 Mode to IPv6
Only, you can enable Dual Stack Lite to use IPv4 computers and services.
The SBG3500-N Series tunnels IPv4 packets inside IPv6 encapsulation packets to the ISP’s Address
Family Transition Router (AFTR in the graphic) to connect to the IPv4 Internet. The local network
can also use IPv6 services. The VDSL Router uses its configured IPv6 WAN IP to route IPv6 traffic
to the IPv6 Internet.
