Modes
Choose the measurement mode that is most suited for the sample from the following 4 options:
MODE-1
The measurement value is displayed once the sample reaches the target temperature.
The Peltier thermo module is activated. The target temperature is user-configurable.
MODE-2
The refractive index and temperature are measured at fixed intervals. The estimated measurement
value at the target temperature is displayed.
The Peltier thermo module is activated. The target temperature is user-configurable.
※ The measurement time may be shorter than the MODE-1 as the reading is displayed without the
wait time for the prism temperature to reach the target temperature. On the other hand, if the prism
temperature is already close to the target temperature, it may take longer than the MODE-1. As the
readings are estimated, they will be less accurate than the MODE-1.
MODE-3
The measurement value is displayed immediately after "START" is touched.
The Peltier thermo module can be either turned on or off.
MODE-S
MODE-S is suitable for samples that are unstable (Brix variation of 0.1% or more after repeated
measurements), such as dairy products containing fats or highly concentrated water soluble cutting oil
emulsions.
Measuring in MODE-S allows for high repeatability, but depending on the sample properties, some
variation in Brix results in the first decimal place is unavoidable.
MODE-T Only for RX-5000i-Plus
MODE-T is suitable for measuring low Brix liquid samples with highly repeatable results (Brix±0.01%).
Low Brix samples include teas, coffee beverages with no sugar added, sugar-free beverages, and diluted
solutions of surfactants, cleaner liquids, and antirust liquids.
MODE-T allows for even greater repeatability (up to the 2nd decimal place).
