11. Heparin Delivery
11.3 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Figure 11-4 is a block diagram describing the heparin delivery
system. You may wish to refer to it during the following
discussion.

11.3.1 Heparin Pump State
The two optical sensors, end-of-stroke (for the overpressure alarm)
and arm engage/disengage, provide information about the state of
the heparin pump as explained in Sections 11.2.3 and 11.2.5.
The Blood Pump Controller monitors the state of these sensors via
the Blood Pump Power Board and passes the information to the
Single Board Computer.
