The BLD can be easily cleaned without opening the Instrument;
however, the Instrument must be turned off. The BLD housing has
a quarter-turn cover that allows the technician to reach the lens of
the LED and photodiode from the outside and clean them, thereby
preventing nuisance blood leak alarms.
