TwinCAT must be in CONFIG mode on the target system.
The online scan process consists of:
detecting the EtherCAT device [}67] (Ethernet port at the IPC)
detecting the connected EtherCAT devices [}68]. This step can be carried out independent of the
preceding step
troubleshooting [}71]
The scan with existing configuration [}72] can also be carried out for comparison.
6.1.5 OFFLINE configuration creation
Creating the EtherCAT device
Create an EtherCAT device in an empty System Manager window.

Select type ‘EtherCAT’ for an EtherCAT I/O application with EtherCAT slaves. For the present publisher/
subscriber service in combination with an EL6601/EL6614 terminal select “EtherCAT Automation Protocol
via EL6601”.

Then assign a real Ethernet port to this virtual device in the runtime system.
