15.7 BILGE PUMP

Problem Cause Action
1. The pump does not start − No voltage
− Blocked impeller
− Electric section defective
− Check the value of the line voltage
− Clean the impeller and the pump casing
− Consult BERTRAM Customer Support
2. The pump runs but it does not work − Dirty valve and filter
− Over suction depth
− Air in suction
− Clean valve and filter
− Install the pump closer to the water static
level
− Check the seal of the suction pipe
− Fill the pump casing of liquid
− With DC and three-phased motors invert the
polarities
3. The pump vibrates and is noisy − The pump has not been primed at first start
− Wrong rotation direction
− Increase or decrease the capacity
− Vent air from the system
4. The operation of one pump is irregular − Damaged impeller and blower
− Pressure required from the system higher
than that-one the pump can supply
− Check the internal air pressure in the
membrane
− Check/Have it cleaned
