5. Motor runs hot or overloads − Discharge pressure too high
− Shaft speed too fast
− Fluid viscosity higher than expected
− Incorrectly wired motor
− Binding internal pump parts
− Motor normally feel hot
− Reduce downstream pressure. Check relief
valve setting. Be sure discharge pressure
gages function correctly.
− Reduce speed
− Change to larger horsepower or higher
service factor motor. Thin fluid.
− Check wiring diagram
− Inspect and correct condition
− Verify if actual motor amperage draw is within
range.
6. Seal leaks − Dry running
− Solid in fluids
− Damaged during field replacement
− Seal material incompatible with fluid
− Open valves
− Add suction strainer
− Inspect and replace damaged components
− Verify original application conditions.
