Operation Instructions
4.2.4 Manual Mode
Manual mode is an alternative to Automatic mode that aids in
keeping the milking unit attached when undesirable detaches
occur. Manual mode does this by preventing the Detach that
follows the takeoff delay in Automatic mode. Use of the Manual
mode may prove advantageous near the end of milking a cow
with milk-out problems.
You may nish milking the cow in Manual mode or change the
mode back to Automatic at any time (by pressing the corre-
sponding key). If nishing the milking in Manual mode, closely
monitor the milking to decide the best time for takeoff and
press the Attach/Detach key to detach the unit manually. If you
set the control to Automatic mode, events will occur according
to the time of the setting.
If a cow with let-down problems frequently detaches early,
consider milking her in Manual mode until her milk ow rate is
consistent enough to avoid reattaching. The LED Status Indica-
tors will be yellow when a minimum or greater milk ow rate is
measured. When the LED Status Indicators ash yellow for an
extended period of time, set the milking mode to automatic.
At this point the milking unit should stay attached and detach
normally. It is also an option to milk the cow entirely in Manual
Mode.
If a cow with milk-out problems experiences a normal Detach
before one or more udder quarters nishes milking out, you
may nish milking her in Manual mode. Reattach as explained
above for a cow that detaches early. Closely monitor her milk-
ing and manually Detach the unit when you decide she is
milked out.
When the cow is milked out, the LED Status Indicator will ash
yellow, but the takeoff delay sequence will not start. The milk-
ing unit will stay attached to the cow and continue milking until
the Attach/Detach key is pressed. Pressing the key causes the
control to retract and Detach the milking unit and restores Au-
tomatic mode. The LED Status Indicators will be white until the
exit gate opens.
The LED Status Indicators will turn violet when a cow is identi-
ed and assigned to that stall.
NOTICE————————
•If the Maximum Milking Time is set
to a value other than zero it will de-
tach the milking unit at that setting
regardless of the mode of the Manual
key.
•After reattach there is a 30-second
delay that allows a cow to reestablish
milk ow.
—NOTICE————————
Close observance of milking is re-
quired at any control set to Manual
mode because the milking unit stays
attached and continues milking until
the user manually detaches the unit
(or resets it to Automatic mode).
