6.1.4 After Every Milking
Proper cleaning of the pipeline milking system is essential to
remove bacteria and soils left in the lines and equipment after
milking, which could spoil milk or harm milking equipment.
Wash milk-contact surfaces of milk lines and milking units after
every milking, as follows:
1. Attach the teat cups to the jetters.
2. If using a SmartDairy Controller and the “End the Milking”
is to be done use the following procedure:
a.Enter “9173” to unlock the keypad.
b.Using the [ ] (F4) key scroll through the available
Function Keys until [End Milk] is available.
c.Press the appropriate Function Key.
d.Conrm or cancel the end of milking function.
i.Press [No] to cancel the end of milking
function.
ii.Press [Yes] to conrm that the end of milking
is to be done.
3. To place the detachers into Wash mode use the following
procedure:
a.Enter “9173” to unlock the keypad.
b.Using the [ ] (F4) key scroll through the available
Function Keys until [Strt Wash] is available.
c.Press the appropriate key below [Strt Wash] to place
the controls in the zone into “Wash mode”.
4. Once “Wash mode” is selected the display will show “Wash-
ing” and the indicator LEDs will ash blue three times with
a small delay before the pattern starts over.
5. Start the rinse and Wash routine. (Refer to your washer
instructions for details.)
6. Immediately before the next milking, sanitize the lines and
milking units according to your washer instructions.
7. To end the Washing mode and start the next milking re-
move the teat cups from the jetters and use the following
procedure:
a.Enter “9173” to unlock the keypad.
b.Press the appropriate key below [End Wash] to
place the controls in that zone into “Milk mode”.
