6. Software Configuration
This section describes basic software configura-
tion.
Communications between the D8 controller,
FDC (if present) and the detector are made via
RS232 communication ports. Communications
between the frame buffer computer and the
detector controller are made via a network con-
nection. The parameters for communications
must be defined by the user and are stored in
the device.ini file. The Configuration program is
used to set the parameters. Perform the follow-
ing steps to configure the system (see Figure
4.3 for the cabling scheme for an internal FDC,
Figure 4.6 for the cabling scheme for an inte-
grated FDC).
