2-SAFETYINFORMATION
Parkingthemachine
Whenparkingthemachine,proceedasfollows:
1.Positionthemachineonat,levelground,awayfrom
softground,excavationsorpoorlyshoredcavities.
2.Placetheupperstructureandtheattachmentinline
withtheundercarriage,retracttheattachmentanddig
thebucketintotheground.
3.Lowerthedozerblade(ifequipped)untilitrestsonthe
ground.
4.Stoptheengineandremovetheignitionkey.
5.Youmustplacethefunctioncancellationleverinthe
centralposition(safetybarininwardposition)before
leavingtheoperator’scompartment.
6.Lockthecabdoor.
7.Makesurethatthehoodsanddoorsareproperly
latched.
8.Checkthatnopartofthemachineisencroachingon
thehighway.Ifthiscannotbeavoided,installthenec-
essaryregulationsignallingequipment.
Maintenanceandadjustments
Donottrytoservicethismachineunlessyouhave
rstreadandperfectlyunderstoodthesafetymessages
andinstructionsfeaturinginthismanual.
Whencarryingoutserviceworkalwayswearsuitable
dress.Avoidloose-ttingclothing.
Releasepressurecompletelyinthehydraulicsystem
beforedisconnectingthehydraulicpiping.Hydraulicoil
escapingunderpressurecancauseseriousinjury.
Beforedoingmaintenanceworkonthemachine,shut
downtheengineandallowittocooldown.Otherwise,
youcouldbeburned.
Beforecommencinganyworkonthemachine,placea
"Donotoperate"tagontheright-handcontrolarm.
Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenusingatoolthat
mightprojectmetalparticles.Useahammerwitha
softface,suchascopper,forinstallingpins.
Badlycarriedoutmaintenanceoradjustmentscan
causeseriousinjuries.Ifyoudonotunderstanda
servicingoradjustmentprocedure,consultyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.
Iftheattachmentisraisedorifthemachinemoveswith-
outanoperator,seriousinjurycanresult.Beforecar-
ryingoutmaintenanceonthismachine,proceedasfol-
lows:
Parkthemachineonat,levelground.
Lowertheattachmentuntilitisrestingontheground.
Lowerthedozerblade(ifequipped)untilitrestsonthe
ground.
Stoptheengineandremovetheignitionkey.
Lockthetrackstopreventanymachinemovement.
Anyunauthorizedmodicationsmadetothisma-
chinecancauseseriousinjury.Donotundertake
anymodicationswithoutrstconsultingyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.Anymodicationsmade
mustbeinconformitywiththetechnicalspecications
ofthemachineandanycurrentsafetylegislationre-
quirements.
Certaincomponentsofthemachinearesubjectto
typeapproval.Whenreplacingsuchcomponents,
itismandatorytomakesurethattheyconformto
regulations.Forsafety'ssake,usegenuineCASE
CONSTRUCTIONparts.
Pressurizedhydraulicuidorgreasewhichpenetrates
theskincancauseseriousinjury.Taketheneces-
sarysafetyprecautions(safetyclothingandprotection
forfaceandhands)toavoidsuchrisks.Also,before
usingtheseproducts,readthemanufacturer'sinstruc-
tionsconcerningtheiruse.Ifhydraulicuidpenetrates
theskin,calladoctorimmediately.
Coolantsolutionistoxic.
Avoidcontactwithskin,eyesandclothing.
Antidote:
External:rinsethoroughlywithwaterandremove
soiledclothes.
Internal:donotinducevomiting.Rinsethemouthout
withwater.Seekmedicaladvice.
Eyes:rinsethoroughlywithwaterandseekmedical
advice.
Thepressureinthetracktensioncylindersishigh.Fol-
lowtheproceduredescribedinthismanualcarefullyfor
increasingorreducingtracktension.
Whencarryingoutaweldingoperationontheundercar-
riageorupperstructurecarriageasauthorizedbythe
manufacturerandinaccordancewithhisinstructions,
disconnectthebatteries,disconnectthealternatorB+
andD+terminalwiresandconnecttheweldingappa-
ratusearthcabletothecomponentonwhichtheweld-
ingoperationistobeperformed.Neverconnectthe
weldingapparatustotheundercarriagewhenwelding
ontheupperstructure(orvice-versa).Neverconnect
theweldingapparatusearthtoacomponentofthehy-
draulicsystem.
Whenusingcompressedair,takethenecessarypre-
cautionstoprotectyourface.
Cleanthemachineregularly.Accumulationsofgrease,
dirtanddebriscancauseinjuriesordamagethema-
chine.
Periodicallyinspectthefasteningofthemaincompo-
nents,aspartofthemachinemaintenanceprogramme:
counterweight,turntablebearingandoperator'scom-
partment.Intheeventofproblems,consultyourCASE
CONSTRUCTIONDealer.
