Excessive wearing out of input

Pinion nut loose
Pinion axle backlash
Replace the flange.
Check that the pinion spline is not
excessively worn out.
Replace bevel gear set if required.
Fatigue failure of pinion teeth
See if the fracture line is well
defined
(wave lines, beach lines)

Replace bevel gear set.

Replace all scratched washers

Replace at intervals recommended.
Replace all scratched washers and
those with a thickness by 0.1 mm
lower than the new ones.

Insufficient lubrication
Contaminated oil
Replace bearing.
Check pinion axial backlash.
Use proper lubrication, fill up to right
level and replace at recommended
intervals.
Bent or broken half shaft Vehicle intensively operated or

Replace.
Half shaft broken at wheel side Wheel support loose

Replace.
Check that wheel support is not
worn out or wrongly adjusted.
