Bevel gear marking test
To test the marks of the bevel gear teeth, paint the
ring gear with red lead paint.
The marking test should always be carried out on
the ring gear teeth and on both sides.
OK -> Correct contact
:
If the bevel gear is well adjusted, the mark on the
teeth surfaces will be regular.
Z -> Excessive contact on the tooth tip
:
Approach the pinion to the ring bevel gear and then
move the ring bevel gear away from the pinion in or-
der to adjust the backlash.
X -> Excessive contact at the tooth base
:
Move the pinion away from the ring bevel gear and
then approach the ring bevel gear to the pinion in or-
der to adjust the backlash.
Movements to correct
:
1 -> move the pinion for type X contact adjustment.
2 -> move the pinion for type Z contact adjustment.
