SECTION 27 - REAR AXLE 23
MEASURING OF AXLE SHAFT ROLLING TORQUE
After fitting the correct shim to set the preload: man-
ufacture a bridging bar to span opposing screw
holes to the dimensions shown.
Fit bridging bar (1) across the rear axle housing
flange and use a torque metre (2) to check rolling re-
sistance which should be 2.3 - 10 Nm.
NOTE: the brake housing, brake pads and sun gear
should not be installed but all bearings well lubricat-
ed.
If out of specification the shim should be adjusted
and rolling resistance rechecked.
