The refrigerant must be discharged from the system
and the compressor removed from the vehicle prior
to replacing the shaft seal.
Z Remove the armature plate, as detailed in the
steps of clutch disassembly.
Z Remove the shaft key (1), shims and ring (2) to ex-
pose the snap ring (3).
Z Remove the snap ring (3).
Insert the seal remover/installer tool (A).
Twist the tool to engage the slots in the seal. Pull up
to remove and discard the seal (4).
