Chapter 10 Antennas
Antenna Ports
The total number of antennas installed on the router depends on:
• Number of modules installed in the router
• Module types that are installed in the router

Antenna Ports
This section describes the antenna ports, and includes the following topics:

Unused Antenna Ports
Liquid-tight, female N-connectors are installed in any unused antenna ports. The N-connector protects
the router interior from environmental elements including water, heat, cold, and dust. Port plugs are
installed in unused antenna ports before the router is shipped.
To install or replace an antenna, remove the port plug, and follow these guidelines and the instructions
in Figure 10-3:
• Chassis-mounted antennas—Install a chassis-mounted antenna directly to the antenna port.
• External antennas—Install the N-connector in the antenna port, connect the supported Cisco
lightning arrestor to the N-connector, and then connect the antenna cable to the lightning arrestor.
