If the switch port is using tagged/trunk mode, provide the correct VLAN ID that corresponds to your network. If the
switch port is using untagged/access mode, use VLAN 0. It is recommended that you configure the external network
ports in tagged/trunk mode for maximum performance and reliability.
b. In the MTU field, the maximum transmission units (MTU) value is set to 1500.
c. In the Bonding options list, the port bonding configuration is set to Active-Active. The DM5500 is configured so that
all ports can load balance the internal network traffic.
Active-Active bonding does not require any corresponding switch
side configuration.
d. In the Management Subnet mask field, enter a subnet mask.
e. In the Management Gateway field, enter a gateway IP address.
6. On the Network page, in the Data VLAN section, if you want to configure a data network separate from the management
network, select the Separate data network checkbox and enter the following:
a. In the Data VLAN ID field, enter the numerical VLAN ID.
If the switch port is using tagged/trunk mode, provide the correct VLAN ID that corresponds to your network. If the
switch port is using untagged/access mode, use VLAN 0. It is recommended that you configure the external network
ports in tagged/trunk mode for maximum performance and reliability.
b. In the MTU field, the maximum transition units (MTU) value is set to 1500.
c. In the Bonding options list, the port bonding configuration is set to Active-Active. The DM5500 is configured so that
all ports actively load balance the internal network traffic.
Active-Active bonding does not require any corresponding
switch side configuration.
d. In the Data Subnet mask field, enter a subnet mask.
e. (Optional) In the Data Gateway field, enter a gateway IP address.
CAUTION: Data backups will fail after you complete the initial configuration of the appliance if all three of
the following conditions occur:
i. You do not enter a data gateway IP address.
ii. You are configuring separate management and data networks.
iii. Your backup asset source IP addresses and data network IP addresses are not part of same subnet.
This scenario causes a failure during backup, as there is no connection between the backup asset source
in the customer enviroment and the data storage.
7. On the Network page, in the DNS section, enter the following:
a. In the Primary DNS Server field, enter the DNS server IP address.
b. (Optional) In the Secondary DNS Server field, enter the second DNS server IP address. This field is optional.
8. Click Next.
NOTE:
If the recommended four network uplinks are not properly connected in PCIe slots 1 and 4 on the DM5500
server, a Warning message appears stating that the recommended uplinks are not connected for optimal performance
and redundancy.
The Time/Location page appears.
9. On the Time/Location page, select the Time zone, enter the Location and NTP Servers information. Click + to add a
second NTP server, this information is optional.
The iDRAC page appears.
10. Configure a read-only integrated iDRAC user.
The read-only iDRAC user you set up now will allow Customer Support to obtain iDRAC access via the Data Manager
Appliance UI after you complete the initial appliance configuration.
On the iDRAC page, enter the following in the iDRAC User section.
a. In the Username field, specify a user name for the iDRAC user.
b. In the Password field, specify the password for the iDRAC user.
c. In the Re-enter Password field, enter the iDRAC user's password again.
When you create the read-only iDRAC user in this step, internally an iDRAC user with operator role privileges is also created.
The operator role iDRAC user can perform actions such as starting up the DM5500 using iDRAC. The credentials for the
operator role iDRAC user are based on the read-only iDRAC user credentials you input in this step. The operator role iDRAC
user credentials that are internally created are:
● username: <read-only_IDRAC_user_name>-opr
● password: <read-only_IDRAC_password><appliance_serial_number>
